That justplainbob from over there. Retired Minnesotan who abides in Stately Moffitt Manor with Mrs. Lungs.
Complaining about fraud while flying around in a private jet with a bar and private Love Nest cabin is just the sort of leadership I would expect from Krist Noem.

Hoping it remains mostly dry early tomorrow, because compacting wet cardboard is not fun. #RecyclingRealities

I liked the FBI better when they solved crimes rather than cover them up.

You can see the level of fear in the GOP by the fact they are again pushing the SAVE Act, a bill specifically written to disenfranchise female voters. They hope they can pass it in time to supress the vote in November.

Everytime Tom Emmer opens his mouth, I hate him even more.

If you work a little harder, you can find stories like this that go beyond the usual medal count or hero athlete profile.

RIP, Robert Duvall. It was his tiny, early roles I remember the best. The smart cab driver in Bullitt. Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird.

I hope it is not an omen, but I just thought about a dear friend I went to school with, and how I should have told have told her more often how much she means to me*.

*Don't worry, she's happily married to a great guy, and Mrs. Lungs thinks she's great, too.

How did I get so old and never heard of Lundi Gras until today?

Fuck it.

Even Tots with "hard plastic bits" is 100% better than most things I put in my mouth, and that is no lie.

All the Hy-Vee employees at the cafe were buying all the deeply discounted Valentine's Day merch today. I would have too, but I don't like Rice Krispie bars as much as they do.

I was also surprised that Ichiddo Ramen in Crapids had completely changed their menu. Their online menu remains the same.

My old favorite, Tan Tan Ramen, was no longer listed. The chicken stir fry noodles I ordered where fine, but I missed the spicy heat of the old Tan Tan.

Things at the dollar stores haven't been $1 for some time. But color me surprised when I saw that almost everything at a store in Coon Rapids had jumped from $1.25 to $1.50 overnight.

Somewhere, sometime, somehow some patriotic American whose name we will likely never know has made made copies of the records. They have them on a thumbdrive at home. When this country returns to saner hands, they will send them to a DOJ under new leadership.

At least, I hope that's what happens.

Just thinking about all the journalists of color in Minnesota doing objective, professional coverage of the Occupation while the federal government targets people who look like them and their families.

Put this story in front of your MAGA relatives and make them justify their support of this administration.

Just don't expect to be invited back for Thanksgiving dinner this year.
Federal agents convinced an 11-year-old boy to open the door at 7:30 a.m. and then detained this Hmong grandma for 2 weeks in Texas. She shared a cell with 20 women. What did she do wrong? She has no idea, but ICE has returned repeatedly. She's still in hiding. www.twincities.com/2026/02/15/h...
Hmong grandmother detained in Texas for 2 weeks still doesn’t know why
After being repeatedly visited by ICE, Thi Dua Vang and her husband, both in the U.S. legally awaiting green cards, are in hiding.

Strib business columnist Evan Ramstad has been sounding more and more like a human being lately, and less like the WSJ drone he used to be.

I glanced at the Oylmpics on teevee and saw that Canada was leading the US women's curling team by a point. Then I looked closer and realized it was China, not Canada.

WHAT?!?!

Holman going on teevee today and making the batshit crazy claim that he and his murderous thugs had found thousands of "missing children" in Minnesota is today's jawdropper, and it is still early.

"Annette Meeks should be ashamed of herself" is the most evergreen thing ever said online or in print.
Almost spit out my coffee reading this. (To be fair, the story details the ways the GOP violated the rule of law. And Annette Meeks should be ashamed of herself.) www.startribune.com/as-ice-surge... (gift link)

Laura Yuen's columns are always good, but today's profile on a Minnesota teacher and scoutmaster who was a friend and mentor to Hmong youth really hit me in the feels.

He was a Minnesotan version of Mr. Chips, and we are a better world for him being in it.

I think these folks can handle a few slurs from that demented bastard and his inbred minions. They will do fine while their haters fade into the oblivion they so richly deserve.

If you have a whistle, a few bucks, and the ability to do what Fred did, please do, because this can be the make-or-break moment for a lot of immigrant-owned resturants.

I have done it before, and I will do it again.

Join us in the Delicious Resistance.
You go to East Seventh Street, the West Side, Lake Street, University Avenue, etc. You find an immigrant-owned restaurant. You eat. They survive. It’s the best middle finger I can give to the shitstorm that has been 2026…
