Rather than webinars for women to teach us how to be "confident" and "resilient" how about webinars for men to learn to "listen" and "not be an asshole"?

We should submit a playlist with our grants at the time of submission, for reviewers to listen and get in the mood! I'm currently writing one while listening to Man of Steel by Hans Zimmer

Both of my PhD students are now on Bluesky! Do me a favor and follow them so they’ll believe I’m not lying when I call this "networking". follow them at @malazim1.bsky.social and @gsolomonn.bsky.social

Polishing my presentation for Life in Biomedical sciences...at NYMC. is this an accurate view? in your opinion why a PhD is hard?

#dormancy .... reviewers want patient samples data.... primary tumor is too early, metastases is too late ... seems like an equation I cannot solve! I cant propose to randomly biopsy patients in remission .... any advice? thoughts?

These are the days I think about opening a bakery... I spread myself like a carpet running to catch my bus... Left leg f***ing sore and now I can't hold a tips box without making a mess... Happy Thursday everyone! #stillStanding

The NIH was healthiest when pay lines were in the 20th percentile range.

We are headed into an environment where pay lines are in the 5% range.

In my entire career, I’ve only had 3 grants that scored better than 5%. And my lab is considered a successful one.

This is going to destroy science.

With a 4 percentile payline....I m waiting for a miracle or a donation from someone rich 🤑

Last Thursday, my lab met with Bob Riter, an incredible patient advocate. He listened to each student’s research and shared his journey with breast cancer. Collaborating with advocates like Bob grounds us and reminds us why we do biomedical research. #PatientAdvocacy

Want to know where research fundings are a real waste .... I had to get FIVE different antibodies to find one that works as expected on my protein of interest

Sick and tired of this!

Just an idea, but maybe to reduce the cost of medical research, we could mandate biotech to sell their produce at a fair price... tired of buying a tube of lipofectamine $800! or unvalidated antibodies in average $500 ...

Congratulations to Bryan Jimenez for graduating with his master's degree from NYMC. He spent some time with us last year, and he was brilliant in my Cell Bio exam this year! Wishing Bryan the best for his future. He is on the job market to complete some more science before starting medical school.

Our favorite undergrad, Leah Gutman, graduated! Leah has been with us since the summer of 2023, and we are sad to see her go but excited for her to pursue her medical studies! In addition to being an excellent scientist, Leah will also be a great physician, filled with care and compassion.
