#econtwitter #econsky: I'm again organizing sessions for Ashecon this upcoming June (in Minneapolis, in-person only) focused on IPV/VAW in low- and middle-income countries; for myself, particularly interested in a session around intersections between IPV and health outcomes

This is such a bizarre talking point; I've thankfully never had to use most of the types of insurance that I have for me and my family

This is a good excuse to share my WSJ letter to the editor explaining that "not filing a claim doesn’t mean you didn’t need insurance" www.wsj.com/opinion/the-...

I'd love to help make BlueSky one of the places where young scholars introduce themselves and their work to the world.

If you're a PhD student whose work at least partially focuses on economics of education or education policy, reply to this thread and I'll highlight your work.

Bad idea for economics: our author ordering is usually alphabetical
🧪For those of us who do complex collaborations with multiple corresponding authors this is terrible . I suspect it will also hit female authors disproportionately as they tend to have more collaborations across fields…https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-03281-4
Google Scholar tool gives extra credit to first and last authors
Researchers welcome the initiative, but say it doesn’t go far enough to capture the nuance of researcher productivity and impact.

I tried this on a manuscript—I’m impressed! It flagged:

- A missing variable in a first-order condition
- An outdated manual calc (“drop from X to Y is not Z%”)
- Inconsistent notation
- Miscellaneous typos (“and and”, “+ +”)
- Missing subscripts
- Several unclear passages
I've been working on a new tool, Refine, to make scholars more productive. If you're interested in being among the very first to try the beta, please read on.

Refine leverages the best current AI models to draw your attention to potential errors and clarity issues in research paper drafts.

It introduces a new extension of RDD where outcomes are entire distributions: Regression Discontinuity Design with Distributions (R3D).
