Pete Buttigieg: Trump is “attempting to become an autocrat and, in some ways, has succeeded.” Buttigieg added that we must not cede to Trump’s politics of fear, because “the more you give in to it, the worse it gets. The only antidote to a politics of fear is a politics of courage.”

Here is a no-paywall link to our article where you can more clearly see the flood zones, the camp layout, how the 2019-2020 construction project unfolded, and more insights from flood experts.

Camp Mystic Cabins Stood in an ‘Extremely Hazardous’ Floodway (Gift Article)
An analysis of flood maps shows that several buildings, including those where children were sleeping, were in known hazard zones. A $5 million expansion in 2019 did nothing to alleviate the problem.

Nearly all of the members of the City Commission in Key West, FL, voted to cancel the agreement between the city’s police and ICE. This would mean that the Key West Police Department will no longer hold detainees for ICE, or share arrest data with them.

Worth putting it on the record here, though you probably already know it: “Alligator Alcatraz” is a concentration camp.
Hmm, let’s see… mass detention of civilians without trial or traditional legal protections on the basis of identity (race, religion, ethnicity, political affiliation) rather than any criminal act, often for an indefinite period and done principally to expand political power. Check.

If the Senate's budget is enacted, millions will lose health insurance, millions will fall into poverty, and the national debt will increase by $3.3T.

All of this to provide a major tax cut mainly to the rich and big corporations.

There is no justification for this.

Stop pretending any of this is normal.

I think that the outcome in the NY Mayoral race and the Wisconsin Supreme Court race both show that people power CAN beat the political money machine. That should give us all hope, and the motivation to work for the government we want.

You may have heard that I just got elected as the lead Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.

That means that we will be leading investigations against the corruption of Donald Trump and those who seek to harm the American people. Let’s get to work!
