Anastasiia Hrytsiv and her family were killed by the Russian strike on Lviv region last night.

Anastasiia's school wrote about her death.

She had her life ahead of her, but Russia's damned war against Ukraine took the lives of the whole family.

Deepest condolences...

Worth noting that McConnell refusing to whip votes to convict Trump at his impeachment trial (or vote himself to convict) is *why* we’re now in a position where Hegseth is the Defense Secretary. If McConnell is looking for the person at fault, he might want to consult a mirror.

Occam's Razor would suggest, I think, that a Russian ship full of spying gear (reported by the Finns) during a time of increased Russian aggression (see: European sabotage campaign, battery shipments on airlines) is more likely to have done this than not. This being accidental strains credulity.

If it had only been “maintaining contacts with Russia”, that would have been one thing.

But Merkel helped cement Germany’s energy dependence on Russia and had made no attempts to undo it post 2014 (indeed, quite the opposite)

A failed leader in every respect
Merkel reflecting on her 2 decades of meeting Putin.

“I still think it was right, even in retrospect, that until the end of my term I made a point of maintaining contacts with Russia …
After all, Russia is one of the world's two leading nuclear powers and a geographical neighbor of the EU.”
