Fantastic to see two older American athletes - both moms - win Olympic medals in monobob tonight! Also fantastic to see their kids up there with them.

Congratulations, Elana Meyers Taylor and Kaillie Humphreys.

I am gonna go out on a limb and say that a Jersey dude so horrified that he went to his first protest and is trying not to cry on camera has a pretty good chance of staying radicalized. And that while Bluesky loves to pick apart things like this, this kinda video moves the needle for OTHER dudes.
Yesterday morning kids were sent running from their bus stop in panic because ICE showed up. This guy at today’s ICE Out of Lindenwold protest is a must watch 😭. @maddow.bsky.social

I wrote about MAGA’s war against normal American drone users - and how they’re trying to take control of the skies for themselves.

I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

I write and talk about energy and borders and that our collective infrastructure is how we take care of one another, and I like to point out that I’m just one of so many fellow travelers saying it in different ways. Today is a good demonstration of that. 😍💡

Clergy friends, your moral voice matters so, so SO much in this moment.

In the public square.

Pushing your electeds.

With congregants.

At actions.

Teaching the truths of your tradition & using the authority of your office.

& calling in all that damn social capital.

What ELSE is it FOR

“You said there were no words after the murder of those two individuals,” said Rev. Jack Perkins Davidson. “I think the words are ‘Abolish ICE.’”

Three more #kakapo nests found on Pukenui/Anchor Island yesterday. Here's Konini with her two eggs. We have found nests for 26 out of the 36 adult females on the island, with more to come in the next few days. It's a big year! #conservation #kakapo2026 A

@peculiarityshop.bsky.social I am smitten. The dragonfly and blue sun, especially, are unique and exactly the kind of biophilic design I love. Great finds!

I've told this story on ContrabandCamp but it's worth sharing for BHM because it's one of the greatest stories ever.

A thread.

Here's a tale of how nature triumphs in the end. And the Slag Queens!

Steel mills dumped molten slag in parts of Chicago and nearby areas. The slag hardened in layers up to 15 feet deep.

These places became barren wastelands. Other industries dumped hot ash and cinders there.

OK, I can't quite believe this.

Sometimes you read a sci-fi story & think, "well, that was fun - but *obviously* there's zero truth in it!"

In "20 Trillion Leagues Under the Sea" by Adam Roberts, a retelling of Verne's classic, there's a vast ocean *under* our seas.

Total nonsense?

Well...

Good morning! Here’s a quick thread of snow shoveling tips from a middle aged dude:

1) Treat it like a workout.

Would you roll out of bed dehydrated, with cold, tight muscles, and immediately start doing loaded reps? No you would not. That’s a recipe for injury.

Warm up. Stretch. Hydrate.

Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

Mid-Atlantic and Northeast gardeners, here's a worthy distraction:

Mt Cuba Center just released their trial garden report on goldenrods! One of my favorite native plant families! Such a love/hate relationship with these, but they're great for insects and birds. 🌱

Know what I liked best about this #Patriots game?

Watching head coach Vrabel celebrate with every SINGLE person that came through the tunnel after the win - players, staff, everyone got a handshake or shoulder slap or something. Huge smiles all around.

(Needless to say, Belichick would never)

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.
