The problem here and with Morris’ piece is the risk of replaying 2020-24 over again. The countries’ natural reaction to Trump does not mean they don’t want the reform the senate worked on in 23-34.
"I spent much of 2025 pointing out that political pundits were misreading immigration and effectively ceding ground to Trump. This argument was controversial when I started making it. Now it is undeniable," writes @gelliottmorris.com. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/ice-is-a-7...
Trump has made ICE a 70-30 issue — for Democrats
By using brutal force in public, ICE has given Democrats a chance to change how voters think about immigration policy. Will they take it?

I’m so excited for the first FCBD offering from Amp Comics, our continuation of the 80s staple Greatest American Hero, with a fantastic cover by David Mack! I can’t wait for people to be able to see this.

At the comedy show.

I would rather not cut off Medicaid or SS funding or FDA inspection just because the WH sucks.
Funding the government is treason at this point

Saw something similar (on a much smaller scale) last night in SF. A Nurse and Rabbi excellent speakers. DSA rep was cravenly trying to get signups and attacking Mayor Lurie. Not to mention being an arsonist returning to the ash pile of their efforts.
It’s the iron law of protests: the protests are good, most leaders are bad. Tonight’s leaders spent considerably more time denouncing Frey and Walz than Republicans, although to their credit, several of the speakers were laser focused on Trump, ICE, this admin, etc. That itself is significant.
The protest leaders are screaming denunciations at… Tim Walz

Maybe no one will want Greenland anymore after this

There needs to be a bunch of investigations of ICE in the next admin and people need to go to jail.

Do we?
Hakeem Jeffries talking in inarticulate circles on the Last Word tonight clearly demonstrates the need for new Dem leadership. We have the bench strength in the party to do so much better. We need strong messaging, a compelling plan and leaders able to inspire.

That would make it less likely for impeachment to actually happen.

Performative resistance will not help us.
File impeachment TODAY
File impeachment TOMORROW
File it every day until it succeeds

It was sadly clear a year ago this is what was going to happen. A lot of people said we were being dramatic.
we can’t make this website happen if people can’t stop being so goddamn unpleasant and mean

if we want to win a better world we do actually have to exemplify better
that's a lot of power users gone because of dogpiling. christ

I don’t know, voters in exit polls said pretty clearly they didn’t care about dangers to democracy only price.

A lot of leftist taking Trump’s brazenly illegal invasion of Venezuela as the perfect time to reiterate their attacks against Kamala Harris. Which tells you all you need to know about the left and their true goals.
January 4, 2026 at 5:55 PM
People who think like this are a big part of the problem and actively support people like Trump who benefit from apathy.
I think it’s time for us as US citizens to take action into our own hands and accept that majority of these politicians are not our saviors. Regardless of their political party.

Democracy is dead and no one is coming to save us. When the fuck are we going to save ourselves?

So obviously all the bluster about Iraq being a mistake was just about not stealing their oil while we were there.
January 4, 2026 at 1:08 AM
I usually don’t get too crazy over impeachment talk because it’s more about posture than reality.

But if the Dems do take the House in 26 they really do have to file Articles over Venezuela.

I’ve tried real hard with Letters From An American but every time I read it, it sounds like someone took the days Discover tab from Bluesky and feed it into ChatGPT.

It totally unrelated news I will be launching my politics Substack next week.

In general I make it a rule to never look at someone’s list of best films of the year and say ‘man what are you thinking?’ because I think your list is your list.

But sometimes you guys make it really hard.

Bari Weiss and her ilk remind me of a number of people I have worked with who’s only real skill was selling themselves.
Very funny part of this bogus lawsuit is Taibbi saying that Bari Weiss was a much more successful grifter than he was

Is there a word for a dyed in the wool, blue no matter who voter who hates all liberal media from Vox to Pod Save to Letters from an American.

Considering the genie bottle is open the move is for the FCC to investigate CBS and DOJ to open Paramount antitrust case under next Dem president, not because it can win but to enforce to business there is cost to partisan favoritism and enforce balance.

What’s really funny about the Bluesky Nate Silver hate, besides the problem with inability to handle critique, is how much everyone will be glued to his poll averages next year and in 28.

When I was a child I thought as a child and spoke as a child and loved Transformers more than anything.

Then I became a man and put away childish things and realized GI Joe was actually the best all along.
