Every time I go into one of these movies, skeptical from the title or goofy poster - Princess Mononoke, or a flying pig doing a thumbs up - and then just be totally blown away.

“I'd rather be a pig than a fascist”. Ohhhh boy ❤️

I love the unexplained magical realism of all the movies so far. It’s a normal world, except this one minor thing - a flying island castle, a witch comes to visit your town, the PTSD of war turns you into a literal pig unable to rejoin society.

Just finished Porco Rosso in my watching of the Miyazaki filmography, and somehow I’m getting a feeling like guy likes planes!

Going through Miyazaki’s filmography for the first time, and I’m starting to think this guy likes things that fly!

A ★★★★ review of Castle in the Sky (1986)
This one has it all: great score, fun adventures, magical stones, and goofy sky pirates lead by a brutish matriarch.

it is absolutely backwards that the ostensible professionals paid to mount a massive armed escalation of force on an unsuspecting community are held to lower standards than the ordinary people they're descending on
It doesn’t matter if Alex Pretti had a gun
Nonviolence is a double standard.

I think i've realised im so basic that if a movie has anything other than basic medium shot-reverse-shot i instantly think it's a masterpiece of cinematography.

oh you have a zoom that lasts for more than 1 second? OSCAR!

There’s also still American accents and English accents.

It makes me admire the Belter creole from The Expanse even more.

It’s kind of funny watching Battlestar Galactica, where a humanoid race evolved independently from Earth, yet converged on the same pinstripe shirt and tie, and dry-erase whiteboard

I can only imagine all the "both sides" the BBC would do to 'politely' making the case for segregated pools.
