Honestly my smart home setup could use some more integration testing

Products like Cursor and Claude Code are doing wonders with agentic AI because all the agents were basically already built for them. It's honestly magic watching them iterate away.

I can see how tempting it is for execs to see this and generalise it out to everything, but we're still leaps away.

Then there's the recognition that large *language* models are really good at writing programming *languages* because its the exact thing it's trained for.

Trying to shoehorn non-language goals into an LLM will only ever be as your ability to express the domain in pure text.

Even before AI, there are entire subfields of computer science dedicating to *proving* that the code is Correct. We assume the human "hallucinated" the code so we'll run a bevvy of automated tests to make sure it doesn't break things.

Your light switches don't assume you'll turn on the wrong light.

@reckless.bsky.social @davidpierce.xyz I believe the core reason for the disconnect through all the AI hype is that programming is uniquely suited for AI in a way that's hard to generalise to other fields because it already assumed the human made a mistake.

It does not warrant being a 6 hour film. If that's how we should judge it, then its even worse.

Watching movies - just plain 2D movies - in it is probably the best part about it. It's the one thing where it offers a unique experience compared to just... using a real computer.

I watched the first Now You See Me last night, and liked it enough to watch the second one in the headset as well.

The eye tracking and "tap your fingers to together to click" is really neat. It's incredible how well it works, until like... you're resting your hands just out of view of the cameras and it doesn't. Or you're fidgeting with a coaster while watching a movie and it thinks you're "clicking".

Maybe it's a poor fit, or poor prescription, but I find anywhere other than the very centre of the FoV to be blurrier and hard to see. This leads to me turning my head more than I would otherwise just to get a clear view.

VR technically, resolution is impressive, but I really notice how small the field of view is. It's distracting, constantly aware of how I'm looking through a periscope at my computer.

In dark scenes there's a super noticeable reflection in the bottom third of the view. Again, very distracting.

I don't want to work in VR like this. The idea of having multiple windows arranged around me is so unappealing - I don't want to have to turn my head constantly just to see all my applications.

Beginning to think that maybe Destiny was just a zero interest rate phenomenon

exactly what i just came to bluesky to find out 😌

turns out asking on slack if slack is down isn't very productive...

First, I'm tapping the edge of the button and its 'working', but without the liquid glass blobbing effect. Like theres two seperate touch targets-one for the action, and one for the visual liquid glass. Pretty sure I've seen it in other apps, just thought it was strange that its even a possibility!

They’re not all strictly original - some are movie adaptations of lesser known books, or English remakes of foreign films.

They’re not all 5/5 stars, but they are all worth seeing!!
