He is also a defensive asset but not in the way people expect. Much better help defender than ISO defender. Uses his hands too much on 1-on-1 def and fouls. fouls too much trying to set screens, but he has worked on this a lot. No argument that his length and quickness make him a difficult ISO def

It is an odd set. He hangs out at the 3 line more than most players his size which affects his rebounds I’m sure. He then either dribble drives or shoots the 3. Teams have kind of scouted his dribble handle and they have been sending a 2nd player to go at his hands as soon as he makes that move.

When Ja is on he’s one of the best watches in the league. Unfortunately it’s been a lot more off than on for a couple of years now

They weren’t really playing Jaren at the 5 much. Usually Edey/Landale or even Santi Aldama were playing alongside him.

When he’s been on the court his efficiency doesn’t look like what he used to outside of a couple of outlier games. I think most teams (because it’s a copycat league) view a small star PG as a liability and want to move to the 6/8 type swing point like Luka/SGA. Look at the return ATL got for Trae.

Not for a decent package. The stories are they were asking for a young quality player and a first round pick in return. Ja is a disgruntled guy who hasn’t played more than 6 games in a row since 2022.

This was a bad move. Ja was the player who needed to go. Jaren has always been way more coachable and a better teammate and citizen.
