NEW: Strong evidence has emerged that the DWP hid the true reasons for its planned cuts to disability benefits

Documents disclosed in a legal challenge also suggest up to 100,000 disabled people could be pushed into poverty by the changes

By me, for @bigissue.com

DWP wants to reform benefits to cut costs, not help disabled people into work
The High Court has heard a legal challenge against a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) plan to reform disability benefits.

We need an urgent inquiry in the UK into foreign interference in our politics & media.

…one which needs to advise rules for Parliament to enact before the next General Election hits.

A terifying possibility we need to be ready to fight back against. Part of that fight back will include making @bsky.app the biggest social media platform in the world. We CAN do it

an unhealthy power lust..

And a freefall-failing soXial media site might do to disrupt a wildly popular new rival?

US govt is screwed for controlling US tech billionaires.

EU has, by contrast, been doing a great job on that front - putting citizens’ consumer protections forcefully first.

The UK needs to stand with the EU on this front… especially with the threat of Musk, Thiel, etc.

The "open web" has clearly failed - at least as the idealists of the 90s/00s saw it. Meaningful regulation is sorely needed. Democratically-elected governments need to do this (while they still can). Because the mercurial tech bro billionaires have shown they're utterly incapable/unwilling.

If we’ve learned anything about how people consume information and construct internal narratives, it’s that it usually takes repeating something (could be news, or a lie, whatever) over and over for people to internalize it as the truth.

Surely this is exactly the sort of review which should have taken place before MP’s were asked to vote?
