I am: curious, optimistic about where tech is going, and happiest outdoors. Geospatial and aerospace is my jam.
🤞 for clear skies!
We have upgraded our geomagnetic forecast today (12 November 2025) to the highest intensity level amid an ongoing solar storm.

Current predictions suggest that the activity will result in potentially the largest solar storm to hit our planet in over two decades.

Welcome home! After seven weeks of operations for multiple clients our IO Aerospace modified Learjet is back home.

It's hard to convey just how much area we can cover with the Learjet in a single mission! I often say things like "we can image over 10,000 square kilometers in a single flight" but people have a hard time picturing that, it's a very large number with little context.

The first planned migration of an entire country due to climate change is happening! Tuvalu, a Pacific island nation, is at risk of being submerged under rising sea level, so it has signed an agreement with Australia to allow 280 Tuvaluans to settle in Australia as permanent residents each year.
The First Planned Migration of an Entire Country Is Underway
The Pacific island nation of Tuvalu could be submerged in 25 years due to rising sea levels, so a plan is being implemented to relocate its population to Australia.

When you collect as much area as we do, as quickly as we do, you end up with a lot of image of grand landscapes and sweeping terrain. My favourites though are ones like this, where the more you zoom in the more you can see.

Police: Best we can do is steal their bicycles.
For the police "bike safety" just means stealing bikes from kids

As we approach the summer solstice this week we'll be hitting peak solar production for the year. This building we flew over on a recent mission really knows how to make the most of the sunshine!

An oxbow forms when a meandering river erodes through it's own neck and closes off the loop portion. These oxbow lakes dry up over time leaving behind interesting features on the ground. Usually I show closeups from our high-altitude camera system, but images like this give a peek back in time.

It's Friday afternoon and the sun is shining. I think I'll follow the lead of these kids and go out to recess! This image is from one of our recent data acquisition flights, and even though it looks like a drone image we were at 30,000 ft with the Learjet!

Happy Friday everyone!

Did you know that we are experts in SAR? Different applications require unique configurations, and we tailor each system based on factors like data requirements, platform integration, and environmental conditions.

Often we have grand mountain vistas and wide open plains, and sometimes we have scenes like this showing the stunning detail of the built world around us. Look closely at this facility you can spot a train loading products, a red dozer in the yellow sawdust pile, and a truck with two blue trailers.

It might be spring in Calgary, but there is still plenty of ice on the mighty Athabasca River. This image from our recent IO Aerospace flight over the region shows significant ice still present on the river. I wonder how long until breakup happens?
