Bernie Sanders:

“It is obscene to give tax breaks to the top 1% by throwing more than 16 million people off health care, cutting nutrition for hungry kids and making it harder for working class young people to go to college.

That is exactly what Trump's budget reconciliation bill does.”

If 4.9 million kids with asthma is a national health priority, what does it mean when 5.8 million have Long Covid?

Why is the #1 chronic condition in children being ignored?

Today RFK Jr. fired every member of ACIP, the CDC committee that makes vaccine recommendations. Children will die. This is not ok. Lindsey Graham enabled this.

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

Agree - is this backed up anywhere?
Maybe it's time to create/use a Pubmed mirror so we don't lose access to this immense volume of research.

Side note: Science should be informing/influencing politics and government, not the other way around.

I maxed out my credit card, emptied my savings account, and took out a loan to move from Alabama to Bethesda, MD. I don’t even qualify for unemployment since I’ve only worked at NIH for a month. I will be financially and medically devastated.

Seeking suggestions for anywhere that’s hiring!!
Today, along with 2,000 other NIH employees, I had to clear out my office 😭

It was truly the honor of my life to work with such incredibly passionate people focused on improving human health. I’ve never experienced a more positive culture where *everyone* cared about their job and serving others.

🚀 New study! Using our pathogenicity assessment tool AutoGVP, we analyzed germline pathogenic variants (P/LP) in cancer predisposition genes across 830 pediatric CNS tumor patients from the Pediatric Brain Tumor Atlas (#PBTA), integrated with multiple somatic data types and clinical information.

1. Today the NIH director issued a new directive slashing overhead rates to 15%.

I want to provide some context on what that means and why it matters.

It's not looking good for you @hhmi.bsky.social. We will remember those *philanthropic* organizations that, instead of showing support to scientists at a critical moment, chose to cut even more DEI opportunities for no other reason than to support the current government.
