One day what we call sustainability will just be called "business"

They should release Groundhog Day 2 - exactly the same film except title changed to Groundhog Day 2.

Do this every year until it wins Oscar for best picture.

The only way out of the time loop is to fix what needed to be.

Every purchase is a 'vote' for the kind of world we want. Social power IS economic power.

That's why boycotts work. Why strikes work. Why telling an aggressive leader 'do that and we'll call in all of our loans and destroy your debt-fueled economy' worked.

Time to use our economic power

Companies doing #sustainability work but keeping silent are making same mistake Joe Biden did, expecting stakeholders to recognize good works (like infrastructure) anyway.

I make an effort to focus my comments on sustainable business strategy, implementation and communication and NOT go down the 'whirlpool' of politics.

Business makes sense (at least in theory).

The image of President Trump turning back from Europe because he is totally in the dark is a strikingly apt metaphor.

(AF1 returned to USA, and he flew over later.)

Our allies are giving us every chance to correct course.

Before we self emolliate.
Our allies are telling us: Stage an intervention before Trump drives us off a cliff for good. We should heed their warning.

So much for "free market" Republicans. If investors believe that #ESG factors provide them with information that helps them evaluate risk and opportunities, they should be allowed to invest.

Not prohibited, not required, but allowed to.

"When even the most powerful business leaders stay quiet because they fear retribution, it says something about the state of the democracies they operate in that is undeniably dark."

Especially when their stakeholders want, deserve and demand updates on material risks (and opportunities).
CEOs "...staying quiet at a time like this is self-defeating. It undermines the global institutions needed to address a growing global climate problem that poses serious financial threats." www.ft.com/content/3e48... via @pilitaclark.bsky.social

A former subordinate asking me to consider coming out of retirement to be their leader again is probably the greatest professional compliment I will ever receive.

That's the best #legacy I can imagine.

Clinging to jargon & acronyms drives a wedge between the #business and #sustainability.

Our separate identity hurts the oft-articulated goal of integration.

As for hushing, that contains its own risks (failing to meet customer, employee and investor needs).

As companies (re)focus their #sustainability efforts & messaging to be more aligned with their business strategy, my book explains how to do this.

We have faced threats, challenges & skepticism before. This tried-and-true methodology includes real world examples.

The #Trump administration continues to get it backwards. Current events are already proving them wrong.

An inverted American flag is traditionally a signal of distress, indicating extreme danger to life or property. In modern contexts, it is often used as a form of political protest or social commentary, expressing dissatisfaction with government actions or national issues.

I posted a Ukraine flag when that country was threatened by a rogue neighbor bent on expansion.

Parity requires that I do the same today, as Greenland is under a similar threat.
