I'm surprised telecasts don't do more of these kinds of overlays in all the time trial Olympic sports, especially ones where lines matter. Surely the technology is there now for at least automated animations? (This was really informative comparing Shiffrin to Duerr)

Some folks have asked about "track zamboni", and that's not a thing. The ice is rough, not smooth!
BUT! We do smooth bumps out of the track before hitting it with a spritz. This is how they do that
