I can barely stand any of the cable news channels any more, and long ago stopped watching the network news. But I could watch these three all day.

George Cabot Lodge, who unlike four of his ancestors lost in his attempt to gain a Massachusetts seat in the U.S. Senate, enabling a member of a rival dynasty, Edward Kennedy, to begin a five-decade congressional career, died this month. He was 98.
George Cabot Lodge, Last of His Family to Battle a Kennedy, Dies at 98
The two Massachusetts clans faced off in elections for decades, until a final 1962 Senate race. Despite his loss, Mr. Lodge praised his opponent, Ted Kennedy.

I realize Bluesky is not a hotbed of New England Patriots fandom, but whoo-hoo we’re going back to the Super Bowl!!

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.

I’ve long been inspired by people from Minnesota (Bob Dylan, Paul Westerberg, and Prince to name a few) but now am inspired by the whole damn state.
Incredible. The people of Minnesota are inspiring a nation.
A coworker took this from her apartment. I haven't seen a crowd this size before. Maybe the first Women's March? But it was much much warmer that day. ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA!

Just flipped on Stop Making Sense as David Byrne sings "Our President's crazy, did you hear what he said?" (from Making Flippy Floppy). Think he was way ahead of his time.

Oddly the last two music posts are sort of related because the same long lost former roommate who turned me on to the Grateful Dead also turned me on to the Replacements.

Happy 40th anniversary to this classic SNL performance by the Replacements. Don’t think I saw it live—it would be another couple months before i caught onto them, and exactly 6 months before I saw them myself at the Channel in Boston. But I have probably watched this clip 50 times since.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the Replacements!"

Along with the “snowplow game” the most memorable Patriots-Dolphins games ever.
Wearing my Squish the Fish shirt for today’s #patriots - Dolphins game. Double anniversary: 40 years since winning the Game that got them to their 1st Super Bowl; and 20 years since the 20th anniversary of that game that was also the Doug Flutie dropkick game. Awesome being at Gillette for that one.
