At the cinema.

Local Oxfam window this morning. Not cheap, but also not the kind of thing you see in charity shops every day.

I did go in, hopeful of racks full of ECM, but sadly there were just those two.

Imagine being a student at Leeds in 1980. Spoiled rotten.

Well, last night actually. Hadn’t heard of it. Very good. Directed by Joseph Mankiewicz, with music by Bernard Herrman. And James Mason as smooth as ever. That voice, love it.

A quick bump for this, just in case.
According to the ‘release date’ section of IMDB, Koln 75 appears to have already been shown all over the world, but frustratingly not in the UK. Nor does it appear to be streaming anywhere.

Anyone have any further information as to when we might see it here?

If it was possible to do a ‘Spotify Wrapped’ type thing on my own collection this would be pretty high up. Great album.

Prog morning continues …

I learned at the recent listening party for this album that it’s not Peter Gabriel playing the flute bottom right, which I always thought it was.

Much prefer this to its predecessor (Tales) but it’s still not up there with the matchless three before that. IMO of course, I’m sure many fans disagree.

Bought this the other day. Not bad at all.

Thanks to @scottmclemore.bsky.social for showing me this new piece by Ted Gioia on Jan Garbarek.

Just bought tickets for Caravan and Yes. Caravan was a no-brainer as I was supposed to see them for the first time last year but something came up. Yes, a bit ambivalent as there’s only Steve Howe left from the ‘70s heyday, but I’m sure it will still be good. Last saw them at the Palladium in 2018.

I’m charged with getting Harry Styles tickets this morning for teenage daughter.

The pressure is awful!

If this isn’t a perfect Sunday morning album then I don’t know what is (except for one track, perhaps).

I’m pretty sure this was the first CD I ever bought, from the fabulous jazz room on the first floor of Tower Records at Piccadilly Circus. I could spend hours in there.

That first sentence may be the understatement of all time.
Wearing a vibrator around your neck may not appeal to everyone. But people who love the idea tend to really love it. “The Vesper admits you to a secret club where those who know it become quick comrades.”
Yes, It’s a Vibrator on a Chain Necklace. And It’s Great.
It’s plenty powerful, as both a sex toy and statement jewelry.
