If we can find a way out of oligarchy, the first priority should be taxing billionaires at Eisenhower rates.

Decades of US tax policy insufficiently taxing the wealthiest Americans has become a threat to democracy worldwide.

They really are going with immaculate asymmetry of tariffs, which didn't raise prices when they were imposed but will cut them when they're withdrawn.
KARL: Tariffs have been removed from some food items. How soon do we expect prices on those goods will go down?

HASSETT: The prices for those goods weren't necessarily going up just because of tariffs

KARL: So they might not go down?

The Republicans don't believe any of this bullshit. They know how insurance works. They've been bribed by the insurance industry for their entire careers. This is just a lame attempt to hide the fact that they want to deny health care to millions of Americans.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."

Remember the recent middle-of-the-night apartment building raid where children were dragged outside naked & zip-tied in the street while black & Latino residents were _sorted by race_ and piled into separate vans while their apartments were ransacked & robbed? That raid? So it resulted in 0 arrests.

The way our constitutional republic works is that the supreme court is supposed to strike down actions by the executive when they perform an act that is exclusively granted to congress in the constitution. Whether it is a "signature policy" is irrelevant. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Bessent on tariffs: "This is one of President Trump's signature policies, and traditionally the Supreme Court does not interfere with a president's signature policy."

UPDATE: Since launching our own methane-tracking satellite earlier this year, California has helped close 10 large methane leaks in our state.

That pollution reduction is roughly the same as taking 18,000 gas-powered cars off the road for an entire year.
California is moving forward with a groundbreaking satellite project to track and reduce methane emissions.

With this innovative technology, we’ll be able to move faster to cut methane emissions — protecting Californians and tackling harmful pollution.

Failed Political Gambit: Federalized National Guard troops to withdraw from Portland and Chicago
after a sound legal defeat. Trump administration pulls out after federal judges block the deployment, leaving troops in a holding pattern. It turns out the cavalry wasn't needed, or allowed, to ride in.
Hundreds of National Guard members to leave Portland, Chicago, source says
Last month, about 200 federalized California National Guard soldiers were sent to Portland, and another 200 federalized Texas National Guard soldiers were sent to Chicago.

Bovino: "Whether they were criminals or individuals that were taking jobs from Americans -- you name it, that's what they were doing. And I'll tell you what's gonna happen. We're gonna go even harder on the streets. If he releases those 650, we're gonna apprehend 1,650 on the streets of Chicago."
