I knew a year before I got onboard. In 2011 (back when it was Crazy!) I was working for Holland America as shore staff. I heard about JoCo Cruise the week before it sailed. Went home and googled about it and decided I’d go next year (2012). I’m leaving out details because of space constraints.

One night on JCC1, during an attendee JoCo karaoke session, I saw the love and support pouring from the audience towards our friends on stage and I knew. The musicians and other guests are great, but the true magic of JoCoCruise is the community that was formed. That is extremely rare and precious.

My first JoCo was 2019.
When I walked into the cruise terminal on embarkation day, there was a massive banner hung over the check in desk. I don't remember what it said, but it was welcoming and nerdy.

Hmmm ... maybe at Half Moon Cay when we met another cruiser and coaxed him into the water -- he was just going to sit in the beach chairs bc his wife didn't want to swim. We called ourselves the Half Moon Cay Amateur Salt Water Swimming Club 😆 ✌🏻 It was literally oceans of fun. 💙
