This has a lot of implications well beyond this case. Many people put these devices in/outside their homes to see who is at the door or watch their pets becuase they think it’s livestream only and not recorded.

If companies like Google and Ring have magic backend data, we need to know about it.

Jetzt wissen wir, die Entwertung dieser Fächer hatte oft andere, ideologische Gründe. Wir sind ein zentraler Bestandteil der Erhaltung einer Demokratie.
I do want to shout-out my fellow sociologists, who have collectively created a discipline so woke that not a single one of our introductory textbooks can make it past Florida's censors.

It feels like it's been impossible to get people outside of higher ed to understand that eliminating staff/programs/majors is primarily an ideological project, whatever claims are made about finances.

On 1 May 1517, xenophobic mobs, riled up by preachers who were in turn pressured by wealthy broker John Lincoln, rioted in London. They claimed that foreigners were stealing their jobs and welfare. Thomas More, then under-sheriff of London, tried to stop the mob with an empassioned speech.
