Lutnick, in a senate subcommittee hearing yesterday, said “I looked through the millions of documents for my name, just like everybody else.”

Like everyone else ?

I’ll bet you 47 dollars I’m not the only person who did not look thru the files searching for my name.

We studied the ornamental trade in painted woolly bats in Ho Chi Minh City. We found: this bat is popular in trade, hunted in the wild in Vietnam, mainly sold to tourists and rare in the wild. The trade is illegal, but this bat needs stronger legal protections.

Step 1. Argue that if Byte Dance retains Tik Tok, it will threaten national security & hinder free speech.
Step 2. Secure a SCOTUS ruling forcing the sale of Tik Tok.
Step 3. Transfer ownership to a new 🇺🇸 joint venture.
Step 4. Remove accounts of those who critique the administration.

Airline safety, food security, national security and disaster preparedness.

All essential goals, no ?

This article highlights how the loss of one NSF funded research centre could undermine them all.

Illustrating perfectly why an attack on science is an attack on everyone.

What has been happening in the 🇺🇸 over the past year…

We have travelled a lot, and on Sunday, my husband said to me : if a sitch like this broke out in a country we were planning to visit, we would cancel our trip.

This 💩 would never occur in 🇨🇦 or 🇸🇬.

But now we live here.

And face daily 💔.

Srsly, I think there are so many big problems within your own borders right now, that maybe you can focus on those instead of trying to bully 🇨🇦.

Which will not work, btw.

No words can convey the horror of seeing another life snuffed out on the street by out-of-control ICE agents.

I knew, moving to the 🇺🇸, about the gun violence problem. But govt-sanctioned extrajudicial killings are not at all what I expected.

How many more murders before the public says : Enough ?

What intelligent & compassionate leadership and foreign policy look like.
In an era of great power rivalry, Canada is choosing to be principled and pragmatic. To name reality, to act together, and to build what we claim to believe in.

The wildlife trade includes the harvest and sale of fur bearing animals.

And not all production comes from fur farms.

Many wild fur bearers are trapped and snared, especially in the 🇺🇸 & 🇨🇦.

My ❤️ goes out to all victims of gun violence, esp. in schools.

Moving to the 🇺🇸 for an academic role, this is the thing that scared me the most having never lived anywhere where ppl could carry a gun legally.

The number & capacity of firearms in the hands of the public is outrageous.

Unfortunately, a proposal to list painted woolly bats, which are popular in ornamental trade, on CITES appendix 2 did not get submitted.

But outcomes of discussions at the CoP make us very optimistic that we will achieve this protection at the next CoP.

So, what are we doing in the interim ? 🧵
December 12, 2025 at 12:40 PM
Speaking with my friend who attended CITES CoP20, I was struck by how many traders he said were in attendance.

These powerful lobbyists ensure very hotly debated proposals and quite a few defeats.

Reminds me of how delegates at the recent UNFCCC CoP28 were dominated by petroleum interests.
