I used to walk by the wet market or Sheng Siong and get a whiff of durian and be so grossed out.

Now, if I happen to smell it somewhere in NYC, I am instantly homesick.

Today, NYC will elect a new mayor.

And lest the scare tactics have folks worried about the “perils” of a young Muslim mayor…

@naheednenshi.bsky.social was 38 when we elected him in 2010. He served Calgary for 3 terms and was a very effective leader.

In fact, he won the World Mayor Prize in 2014.

Ok, so it seems common serotine bats have a huge and ❤️ shaped penis, which they basically just touch the female with for up to 12 HOURS.

I’m sorry, but that does not sound like a fun sex life at all.

Painted woolly bats are listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List. Ornamental trade is the top threat they face, and several lines of evidence point to steep declines in at least some populations.

We are doing everything we can to stop the trade.

Cori Lausen is a great speaker on an important topic.

At last week’s NASBR mtg, Michael Whitby, who directs @batcon.org’s Bats & Wind programme, revealed a median estimate of 8M bats killed at wind turbines over one decade. But it might be way more.

I was shocked. We must do wind energy smarter.
