ME: I took three years of Spanish. I grew up in Los Angeles. Could you please just teach me some more nouns and help me with the subjunctivo?

DUOLINGO: You didn’t know this one phrase that was used exclusively in one part of Caracas 40 years ago, so no. Back to “donde está la biblioteca” for you!

the supposed benefit of AI is having an algo micromanage your daily life at a level that would get most human beings punched in the face if they tried it with you, like who is the target audience here, people who wanted to be in prison but couldn't make the cut?
"Imagine a world in which an A.I. can analyze your reading patterns and alert you that you’re about to buy a book where there’s only a 10 percent chance you’ll get past Page 6..."

Fuck off. That's not empowerment, that's outsourcing your soul. That's outsouling.

I went to the Science Museum yesterday and as well as having a ball with my nearly four year old in their amazing child spaces (god love free London museums) I was utterly charmed by this caption.

finally getting to see what it'd be like if i did a swamp tour in this weather and it is hauntingly beautiful. i'd be so here for this. i never thought i'd be so in awe of the swamplands until i got there and saw them for myself.
Ever wonder what snow in the swamp would look like? This is 5 miles into the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya basin... it's unreal... having lived down there for the first 28 years of my life, we never saw anything like this.

Smashed records.

A generation of young Native Americans are losing their lives to drug overdoses in increasing numbers, even as such deaths decline nationwide. Overdose deaths on Alamo Navajo reservation in New Mexico went up 300% in the past year reut.rs/42pFShJ
U.S. fentanyl deaths are down. But not on this New Mexico reservation
Reversing the trend will require police on the reservation, which has none, and closer detox and rehabilitation centers that cater to Native Americans, tribal members and advocates say.

Apps and ankle monitors that track asylum seekers. Databases packed with fingerprints and faces. To carry out mass deportations, President Trump's administration could access a stockpile of tools that is nearly unmatched in the Western world, according to an analysis by The New York Times.

so excited to start watching Perfect Match. the vibe of it totally reminds me of the costume comedies I loved growing up - big families, cute love stories, many lovable characters and chaos! & having five pairings for the five sisters is an added bonus. :) totally up for something upbeat.
