I've gotten into the habit of clicking Like when I start watching. If something offends me, I can always change my mind later. But I almost never remember to click Like *after* I finish watching it.

We see the faces so innocent
And it should come as no surprise
That the oppression's no accident
We know the camera never lies
No the camera never lies

Truth you can't disguise
Just open up your eyes
'Cause the camera never lies

Over the years this song has seemed less relevant as editing technology has improved. Especially deepfakes and AI generation.

But today, suddenly, it seems spot on.

I wish I had a modicum of skill, I'd love to use this as the soundtrack to a video showing cuts of recent events.

Thanks for taking one for the team.

Please bury whatever report you have in a volcano. A really deep, big volcano.

I thought about buying a ticket ironically but I don't want to support the movie or anybody even peripherally related to it. It's a dilemma, but one which is best solved by not spending money.

The best kind of dilemma.

I guess I'll settle for pointing and laughing. Maybe some merciless mocking.

Been re-watching Continuum recently, and I have to say, I can see a line drawn from today to some version of that future.

Some were worse than what we're seeing. I can't think of any right now, but I'm pretty sure there were some.

Plague? Demons? Zombies? Nuclear armageddon? The entire population melting so that aliens can take the planet for themselves? Some of those may come close.

Actually, it wasn't TECHNICALLY the first thing I noticed, but now that I see it, I can't unsee it. And now I'm watching as I read the comic to see if the artist ever figures it out.

NICE illustrations in this article. Not great art, but I like the clean pencil drawings and uncomplicated coloring.
How to Shoot a Recurve Bow (with Pictures) - wikiHow
Archery has become a popular sport recently. The recurve bow's popularity is in part due to it being the weapon of choice for Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist of The Hunger Games. By choosing the rig...

Sorry, that wasn't supposed to be a rant... it was more supposed to be an amused observation that knowing how to operate a bow (even if I'm not very good at it) and being a nit-picky pedant, it was the first thing I noticed.

* "Drawn" as in the character has pulled it back in preparation for releasing it, not as in "illustrated."

Fricken English, I swear.

Looking at the splash page of chapter 1 of a D&D-themed webcomic, and the first thing I notice is how horribly illustrated the drawn* bow is: the bow is too short, even for a recurve, and the arrow is too short, so the character can't pull it back more than halfway.

That was also when they had a tube tester in the store.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to one-up you, but I totally one-upped you. 😆

Mom used to send me to the local Wawa to pick up her cigarettes for her.

...Yes, I mean when I was in high school and underage. I mean, they checked, but I think they put a note on our account because they'd sell them to me without question.

I own a car GPS and a Venu 3. I don't use the former any more, but it's there if I need it. The watch does have pretty good battery life. I keep forgetting I have to charge it.

I flip the script, thinking of avionics first and watches last. But I've been making pretend airplanes for the last 16 years, so I first learned of Garmin for their avionics.
'Garmin uses rigs that can orient a device so it lands exactly on a specific point (like a button) over and over' we went behind the scenes to discover how Garmin stress-tests its watches

Oh, right.

Yeah, in the greater scheme of things, this is unimportant stuff. We've got a fascist dictator running the country and people being shot to death in Minnesota and people dying from the weather. But I'm gonna kvetch about it anyway.

Niiiiice.

Start shooting. I DARE YOU.

Alas, my boss is BOTH of those.

Hell, maybe I should be the first guy, since the alternative is sitting in on 20 minutes of a meeting to give somebody a 30-second status update.

Or a conversation about turtles or something.

Second favorite is the one who ignores me when I walk in with something important and politely wait for an opening but nobody ever acknowledges me, let alone tries to find out if I have something work-related, because my boss. Doesn't. Fucking. Respect. Me.

My favorite type of person is the guy who walks into a room and just starts talking, because a) nobody could possibly be having a conversation without him and/or b) whatever he's got going on is too important NOT to interrupt.
