I make pretend airplanes for a living.
Was reading some SciFi where one of the characters, Alex, has a Scottish burr you could cut with a knife. One day our protagonist gets a letter from Alex that's written in plain English and at first he's surprised, but then he's, like, of COURSE Alex wouldn't write with an accent...

I've got one of those. (The dumb kind, not the AI kind.) If I need Netflix or something I plug in my tablet, I got a special adapter just for that.

I dread the day I have to replace it.

It's got a bit more jitter than I'd hoped. The Megatron self-contained units are solid as a rock. The Megatrons also cost 8x as much and are kind of bulky by comparison. OTOH we'll need to apply more effort to make these work mechanically, so... eh, we'll see. But today, this works.

The result so far: got it working in test. It's pretending to be an aileron trim DON'T JUDGE 😉

...and I think most of us could use some lighthearted positivity in our lives. It has arrived at just the right time to inspire people who feel helpless and repressed.

I don't know. But as a friend used to say, "Don't force it! Use a bigger hammer."

The gods are mocking me. It should have worked. Everything said it should have worked. It didn't work.

Reamed the holes with a .111 twist drill and now it works. 🤷‍♀️

Even if the other dimensions didn't match, I should have been able to insert one peg. No joy.

Both my measurements and the specs agree: they should have fit. But I broke a peg off trying to force it, and had to drill it out afterwards.

...Well, technically I could have left it there.

It sure should have. Here are screenshots of the PCB mechanical specs and the rotary magnetic holder mechanical specs. The holes are .5mm larger than the pegs. Both are supposed to be round. I tried to rotate the plastic and put ONE peg into ONE hole, rotating it and wiggling it; it didn't fit.

Yes, I know that Europeans know how fractions work, at least as well as we do, even if they don't understand what inches are.

...

Yes, I'm being snarky about them not knowing what inches are. I'm in a snarky mood. Work with me here.

As the kids say these days, "the math ain't mathin'." Or something like that. I'm old, I probably got it wrong.

I borrowed a .111 drill and a cute little hand tool from a colleague and now the things fit together. It's a tiny bit loose, but fine for my purposes, which are R&D and not production.
