And on my musical side... Really flattered by this review of my newly released EP with Kimberly Collins. I think the reviewer really got what we were going for with these songs. www.unxigned.com/reviews/ep-r...
EP Review: John Henderson and Lemonhead - Sing Me to Sleep | UNXIGNED
An acoustic EP that stirs the soul, wrapping listeners in the warmth of folk simplicity and the rawness of lyrical honesty.

California's Prop 50 redistricting plan was upheld by the Supreme Court. This is huge for the midterms and control of the House.
Some AMAZING news out of SCOTUS today:

SCOTUS denies the GOP’s request for an injunction to block California’s Prop 50 redistricting plan while the Republicans’ appeal winds its way through the system.

Democracy Dies in Darkness
These are the last words in the last column I wrote for The Washington Post, titled "When institutions crumble, strongmen step in". www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

No struggling newspaper ever saved itself by becoming a worse and less essential product. But what's happening today at the @washingtonpost.com is not just the latest devastating contraction of the news industry; it's the gutting of an American institution vital for a healthy society

I'm putting together a playlist of protest music, especially songs inspired by the current situation in Minneapolis and the US generally, with some classic tracks sprinkled in.

If you have suggestions for others or your own music, please send me a link and I'll check it out. Any genre.

Great thread on the risks of open data. No one‘s advocating a return to unavailable data sets, but it’s clear current subject protections are inadequate.
1. I’m not surprised this happened. This is the side of open data sources we don’t talk about: there’s an assumption that everyone will access the data in good faith. (More on this in a min)

2. This is a sneak peak into the kind of BS thay NIH, HHS, and other fed R&D is about fund.

nothing has changed
After executing Alex Pretti on Saturday, ICE has shifted to primarily targeting bus stops and elementary schools in my community this week. I cannot overstate how much of the ICE activity in my community is just targeting places where little kids are.
Video from this morning shows ICE agents deploying tear gas outside a Minneapolis preschool as parents shout, “This is a preschool! There’s kids here!”

I grew up with Alex Pretti
The kind-hearted ICU nurse shot by ICE agents was my childhood best friend.

38 years of funding here waiting for a renewal budget for a funded project. I also endorse.
As someone with 25-year NIH funded lab, I endorse. Linking NIH and DHS/ICE funding in the same bill is blood money
As a someone with a 33 year NIH-funded lab whose grant is supposed to be reviewed this week, shut NIH down if that is what's needed to end ICE terrorism. Innocent lives are more important 🧪

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.
