Minor #Godot #GodotEngine update

Below you can see a comparison of the tutorial with Kenney assets vs the bitchin’ pixelated ones that I got. The player character can move around, bump into asteroids, and has a limited area to move in. Will finish soon #GameDev #IndieDev #SoloDev

inspired by my #Godot #GodotEngine progress, decided to give #StarAllVampires another go with a smaller scope/prototype in mind. This will also function as a project starting point for other 3D FPS I might choose to do in the future. #SoloDev #GameDev #ImdieDev

Doing more #Godot #GodotEngine

In “Asteroid Attack” I decided to give a polygon collision shape to the alien because he looks so funny getting hit by asteroids. Started on #StarAllVampires prototype too because AMD fixed the driver at last 😼😼😼 #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

#Godot #GodotEngine update

Bit of a slow tutorial in places as it’s aimed at total beginners but the support you get outside of lectures is very good. I’ve opted to use my own pixel assets. I’ll even add my own custom sound effects 😼😼😼 #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

They say tiny games are the way forwards for #GameDev #IndieDev #SoloDev, I can think of a couple for 2D, and I have one for 3D FPS but is it too big? Small level, NPC that gives quest to kill zombies, player has arms and when you look down you can see your lower body. Too broad scope?

Just want to say I’m *really* enjoying #Godot #GodotEngine I think im breaking out of #TutorialHell and I’m also getting more confident using assets I get from other places - because if you’re doing tutorials in a #Skool group, surely different assets make your project stand out a bit? #GameDev

Been putting this off a while:

Have updated the #Godot #GodotEngine game again. Now the enemy briefly goes red when it gets shot, and the gun plays a sound effect. The enemy even has a cute damage sound I got from Itch.io #GameDev #SoloDev #IndieDev

Finally cracking #Godot #GodotEngine

Haven’t had much time past couple of days but I’ve made some minor changes in the coding for the player without a tutorial, just experimenting, and I’m very happy with the results. More coming soon #SoloDev #GameDev #IndieDev

Made more progress in this tutorial and have started using code from another tiny (abandoned) project. Player gun now rotates instead of player. We have an enemy bat that approaches player MENACINGLY. I’ve also changed the background tiles a bit.

Taking a punt at following a tutorial with different assets using more I’ve learned from other sources for #Godot #GodotEngine

Returning to these assets to make a Brotato-clone. Starring a skeleton with a TEC-9, which I think more games need tbh #SoloDev #GameDev #IndieDev

Last #Godot #GodotEngine update for this #SoloDev #GameDev #IndieDev

Player character fully functions with variable height jumps, coyote time, and jump buffering. Tutorials for smaller games are great as they show the type of scope I should be aiming for.

Maybe last update for this year? Finally getting the hang of the sodding TileMapLayer node. Really like the crunchy pixel look too. Player character can crouch as well as the normal jumping etc.

We now have finished Asteroids. Super simple but this just shows the awesomeness that is #Godot as I was able to put this together in just a couple of hours. More coming soon.

Really enjoying making smaller 2D games. Getting a greater understanding of #Godot and just making stuff work. Player moves, asteroids move randomly, lasers break asteroids. All good fun.

Martian Mike is finally completed. I did almost every challenge, and I’ve even put in extra effort to make more terrain. I’ve even recorded my own (silly) sound effect that plays when you complete a level and programmed it to play myself!

Reminding myself that although they are obscure, and it would take years of hard work for me to ever make a game like these in #Godot #GodotEngine, but I really love #ImmersiveSims like #DeathLoop and #CrueltySquad

Making the three levels. Was originally going to have them all use the same tileset but where is the fun in that? New tilesets coming soon, made a slight error originally but quickly corrected it.
