Several versions of this headline. Not a surprise exports are down, small businesses screaming about this since April.

Several people in my industry went out of business as a result of tariffs. This kind of reporting is asinine. Put blame where it belongs.

Exports fell for the first time in eight months, dropping 1.1% from a year earlier, according to official data released Friday. Shipments to all nations except the US rose 3.1%, not enough to compens...

And yet these stupid motherfuckers started taking money away from small businesses like mine - that could have gone to build factories - with tariffs that were enacted by the snap of a finger.

We've let one person go and won't hire two we had planned because of this.
WELKER: Trump said tariffs were gonna spark a manufacturing renaissance but since he announced them the US has lost 42k manufacturing jobs. Is that proof tariffs are failing?

BESSENT: We can't snap our fingers & have factories built

W: The economy added nearly 500k manufacturing jobs under Biden

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.
Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me
In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

I remember being at work on Jan 6 and thinking and talking about, "should we be working, how are we supposed to focus, etc.?" and now everyday feels like that.

Go to an MMA / jiu jitsu / boxing gym. Get it out of your system. It's not that complicated.
I really don’t get this crisis of masculinity. I just don’t.
You can join the Army or become a paramedic or live in the woods. You can wear camo. You can go hunting or fishing. You can be a little rowdy. I’ve done all these things.

Just don’t be a dick.

I'm seeing a lot of sentiment saying this is over, meanwhile my business is still going to go under when we have to pay 125% on board games we import.
History will remember April 9, 2025 as America’s actual liberation day—the day that President Trump backed down from his ridiculous tariff fiasco.

As someone who runs a company directly impacted by this, I would add if there was ever a glimmer of us building a factory here, these tariffs just took away a lot of money would could have used to do that.
you have to be genuinely stupid as fuck to think american companies are going to respond to tariffs by building factories and moving manufacturing to the US. i don't know how else to say it. you have to be genuinely braindead

I called Hagerty and Blackburn's offices this morning.

As constructed, these tariffs put my small business under later this year.
Heard Ron Johnson - extremely Trumpy senator - on NPR this morning and even he couldn't defend the tariffs. The most generous thing he could bring himself to say was "I have concerns" and "we'll see what happens." You can bet that privately Republicans are freaking out.

I bought something today. Privately owned record store. No need to penalize them for the behavior of big business.

The first act of war in the Three Body Problem (book, haven't watched show) was the far off invading force using their tech to make a few key scientists crazy and incapacitated.

It was very effective.
I can't think of a faster way to undermine the country than simultaneously firing government workers, cutting scientific research, rolling back protections on public health & environment, & cutting essential services. It's like the US was defeated in war and is being occupied by a hostile enemy.
