Devastated to share that my mom, Pat Dedman, has passed away. Cancer took her from us at age 78. It is a difficult and very sad time. I love you, Mom, and I miss you so much.
Hoping that the upcoming Jimmy Olsen television series features this fateful plot line: a testy Superman flies through a courthouse window to challenge the adoption of Olsen mere moments after the judge approves the petition. Might this be the unauthorized practice of law by the Man of Steel?

Stopped at Troubadour Books today for the first time since its opening day a year ago. Bought a few items, including THE DREAM HOTEL by Laila Lalami. As I perused the shelves, I overheard the members of a local book club engaged in an intriguing and very lively discussion of their current selection.

Visited Mad Jack’s Records and Comics in Matthews, North Carolina for the first time today. Very reminiscent of the shops of the late 1980’s replete with back issues and heavy metal records. Aerosmith’s cover of “Come Together” played over the system as I stepped inside. Good times indeed.

Recently read Stephen King’s 1982 novel THE RUNNING MAN. Get this: It’s set in 2025. Of the protagonist’s troubled city, King writes that there was “no smell but the decaying reek of this brave year 2025.” Very different in tone and substance than the 1987 adaptation starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
