Today is the first annual Feast of Seven Potatoes. Dessert is what I've named a Dirt Princess Potato Cake: vintage potato fudge cake, crème diplomat and marzipan like a Swedish princess cake, finished with grated black marzipan "dirt" and marzipan potatoes.

My county's public health dept put out their annual toilet rat PSA, which means that once again I'm just a girl, standing in front of my toilet, hoping that a rat appears in it.

This project sounds amazing, hope they find the housing partner they want with ease and it goes as smoothly as possible. Among much else, fun to have another music venue I can walk to.

Manual Cinema's The 4th Witch at The Moore. Dragged friends w/their teen, who apparently spent the rest of the night not shutting up about its greatness and making shadow puppets.
2025 has been a rough year. What's one piece of art that's brought you absolute joy despite everything?

New sewing kit just dropped (as soon as I finish the cookies, damn the brunsli is delicious).
Not sure if Temple Pastries is sold out of these beauties yet, Seattle, good luck.

I just realized my (Seattle-based nonprofit) publisher has a sale on. I'm proud of the 2nd edition here--new science, new chapters on leafcutter bees and assorted solitary bee pests, and a bazillion new color photos. Lots of titles for outdoors topics of all kinds if pollinators aren't your jam.

This dress was in my family's possession for at least 3 generations. This month marks 5 years since it was returned to the Oglala Lakota Sioux people, after 30ish years badgering my mom and a lengthy research project.

The menu has been formalized for the first annual Feast of Seven Potatoes and idk when I was last this excited about a December holiday. It's Finnish-American-Korean and potatoes will definitely be getting harmed. As will our dignity.

May Bruce have an uncomfortable bunion for all of his remaining years
Welp, after years of planning, pots of dedicated funding, promises that despite other elements getting yanked from the plans that sidewalk repairs were still on the table, the only sidewalk on LWB that got repaved this year was the segment right in front of Bruce's house.

I really hope Julie Wise has gotten an apology from Harrell for the election nonsense in his concession speech. Assume if it comes up in public he'll claim he was joking. Yes, I'm still mad about it.
Voter turnout in the Seattle election has reached 55.95%. That's the highest mayoral election voter turnout this century for the city, besting even the 2009 election when there was 54.99% voter turnout.
