We don't often see Trumpeter Swans on Lake Superior as they prefer smaller lakes and marshes with dense vegetation. So, it was a treat to see these juveniles during fall migration.

An M.I.T. study found that 95% of companies that had invested in A.I. tools were seeing zero return. It jibes with the emerging idea that generative A.I., “in its current incarnation, simply isn’t all it’s been cracked up to be,” johncassidysays.bsky.social writes.
The A.I.-Profits Drought and the Lessons of History
Like the steam engine, electricity, and computers, generative artificial intelligence could take longer than expected to transform the economy.

If everyone lived like we do in Canada or the U.S., we’d need 5 planets to support us all. Australians & Koreans would each require more than 4 Earths. We are depleting nature’s ability to support life about 70% faster than it is able to regenerate. That's why I think every day should be Earth Day!
Isn’t every day Earth Day?

As Earth Day comes to a close, keep in mind that 112 bird species have experienced steep population losses over the last 50 years.

Please do what you can to help. Use native plants in your yard. Turn off outdoor lights at night, use window clings to prevent strikes and keep your cats indoors.

This would be a really good time for the UN Security Council to impose sanctions on DT, his administration, and the president of El Salvador for human rights violations.

i’m of the view that it would be genuinely idiotic for the white house to invoke the insurrection act if it wants to stay in power. if you are going to call out troops to confront throngs of protesters, you need to be extremely confident that they will obey every order given to them.
"So, when we first hear about the Insurrection Act, it may trigger our alarmism. But better to face it now, before it comes, than learn about it on-the-fly."
What to do if the Insurrection Act is invoked
With the Insurrection Act looming, now is the time to learn how it might unfold and the strategic ways to respond.

Not getting much attention, but the Senate GOP is about to start voting - to make sure banks can charge higher overdraft fees. Seriously.

Good time to let your Senators know what you think of that.

I learned this week that you can put our troops' lives in danger, compromise our national security, and violate the Espionage Act. And the government will do nothing.

But if you write an editorial for your school newspaper that Trump doesn't like, you will be abducted on the street and disappeared.

I was hoping to photograph the eclipse last night, but clouds made that impossible. So, to honor the occasion, I dug up my very first try at photographing a lunar eclipse back in 2014.

Imagine DOGE opens your mail and finds your household electric bill. To eliminate this cost, they burn your house down without warning. Then they total up the bills that, as a homeless person, you will never again pay. On its website, DOGE boasts about the money it has saved you.
