www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cd... There is no doubt that this edit was wrong and extremely clumsy. However, it doesn't change anything about the full meaning of the report on Panorama. The BBC isn't perfect but if we lose this public broadcaster it will play entirely into the hands of the populists.

With the whole of the political right ganging up on the BBC the only political leader prepared to defend the BBC and pubic service broadcasting is @eddavey.libdems.org.uk, well done him 👏

So far, only one political leader is prepared to mount an outspoken defence of the BBC
As part of its editorial independence, the appointment of the BBC's next editor-in-chief is meant to be entirely down to its own independent board - and out of the hands of ministers.

I wonder if Cllr Jones is sure of his own Anglo Saxon heritage? What absolute nonsense.
Update on that super-professional candidate vetting process Nigel Farage used to boast about:
Nigel Farage's favoured Mayoral candidate for Doncaster said black people cannot be English.

Reform councillor Alexander Jones claimed being English requires Anglo-Saxon ‘lineage’.

Farage wants Britain to leave the European Convention on Human Rights — tearing up the protections that keep us safe.

The ECHR defends everyone's basic freedoms, we must defend it.

Leaving won’t take back control. All it will do is strip away rights that protect everyone.
