nobody outside of a small group of experts truly cares one way or the other about the specifics of the technology, the problem is as it has always been the social use and propagation of the technology by those in power to increase their power at the expense of the already disempowered
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.
