Makes sense to try and hoard it all. A Super Bowl not on NBC would certainly hurt Olympic ratings.
I think NBC prefers the overlap. It’s the second straight NBC-broadcast Super Bowl during the Winter Olympics and they’ll have another one in 2030. I suspect they could shift the rotation if they wanted to but like the synergy
Did NBC specifically want the Super Bowl to overlap with the Olympics, or it just so happened they were up in the rotation this year? I thought they had outsized influence over the IOC and broadcasting decisions. Seems odd for them to sacrifice a night of primetime Olympics.
