Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.
Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

I was laid off earlier this year, unemployed for nearly 7 months. My parents still don’t know.
I realized I was always projecting far more wealth and success than I had whenever I visited my parents. I never shared the depths of how bad things got for us health wise or financially, because I knew that would be seen as an abject failure. Everything was always "fine " it was always "going up"

My grandmother is technically one of 8 children but 3 of her siblings died before reaching school age. I can’t imagine the pain so many families experienced. Now some are choosing the unimaginable.
