We live in a country where restaurants trash thousands of pounds of perfectly good food every day while huge swathes of people live in food deserts and I'm supposed to get upset if someone gets a parking spot they aren't entitled to for 20 minutes? I don't have few enough problems to care about it

America is a country that will test UBI hundreds of times, get the same radically positive results each time, and still look at it askance, but will also put untested robotaxis on the road because a billionaire threw a shit fit.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Frog knocked at Toad’s door. “Toad, wake up,” he cried. “Come out and see how wonderful the winter is!”

“I will not,” said Toad. “I am in my warm bed.”

I feel this is the new Tom Holland Umbrella video. Once it crosses your timeline, you must repost to share the joy.

I already know depression hates to see this man coming. I’m cancelling all of my therapy appointments and adding this song and dance to my morning routine.

THANK YOU! What he was saying is worse than who he was saying it to!
I know that at this point it's a subplot in the Epstein files drama, but I feel compelled to point out, once again, that Larry Summers HAS NO BUSINESS teaching students at ANY university ever again!

My latest cries into the abyss, in @thenation.com

Why Is Larry Summers Still Employed?
The revelations about the economist’s attempts to pressure a women into a “relationship”—with guidance from Jeffrey Epstein—should finally disqualify him from teaching students.

The thing about the "Quiet Piggy" thing isn't so much that he's a sexist scumbag. We knew that already.

But he would have caught himself in the past. He did with Megyn Kelly with "blood coming out of her... whatever."

Classic case of onset dementia. Losing all self-censorship. Disinhibition.

The brain worm was a lie he used to get out of paying alimony. He said he had brain damage and couldn’t work! That divorce wasn’t finalized because his wife died from suicide
“Baby, don’t worry,” he said. “It’s not a worm.”

those of us laid off from Teen Vogue were really fortunate to complete our fundraising goal — the laid-off staffers at VIBE deserve the same support, as Black media outlets and journalists continue to be targeted and discriminated against in “austerity” measures
It was announced on October 16, 2025 that VIBE was "joining forces" with Rolling Stone. As a result, the majority of VIBE employees were laid off. If you have the means to give, this team could use the support! www.gofundme.com/f/support-vi...

You know, I saw someone arguing that “sex pest” is minimizing, but I like it because you don’t get to argue “it wasn’t *legally* sexual harassment” or “it’s not pedophilia if she’s post pubescent” or whatever bs people like to do for their favorite sex pests.

It’s funny that Harvard has been a consistent target for reactionary campaigns, and not one has been dedicated to ousting Larry Summers, an openly political figure who was friends with Jeffrey Epstein; meanwhile, it’s a fine-toothed comb for *checks notes* Black women.

Hmm, is this anything like the normal budget expense of highways vs the operating losses of public transit??
So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

I just got an email from Senate candidate Mallory McMorrow (great name!) that says "Unlike Mike, I won't lie to you or bullshit you." Spicy! And the McMorrow logo looks sportsy, somehow. So of course I immediately thought of @titonka.bsky.social and how she is clearly trying to be a politics guy
