60 years ago #OTD, Paul Scofield was bringing down the house in Gogol’s stage comedy ‘The Government Inspector’. Paul was a great comic actor, but these days we tend to remember him for his more serious film roles…

Happy Birthday, January 13, since 1905.
Thespian and screen star Kay Francis, famous for quipping "I can't wait to be forgotten," had that hope dashed by Robert Osborne at TCM, among many others. Her all white outfit, shoulderless gown topped by a cardigan, contrasts in breathtaking fashion with her raven hair, dark eyes and lip rouge. Her 1931-32 look, with bob grown out, widow's peak accentuated, and brows plucked and forever, makes her unmistakable.
