📣 There's a new petition to Stop the Closure of Walsall Leather Museum. The building is the last example there of an early Victorian leatherworks in situ. The leather-working process is showcased, it's a much-loved local attraction. The Council has announced it will close in 2026.

Historian Dr Aileen Reid will be giving an online lecture on E.W. Godwin. Although his fame today rests largely on his Aesthetic Movement furniture and friendships with Oscar Wilde and J.M. Whistler, throughout his life E.W. Godwin styled himself ‘architect.' 🧵

Lovely to see the listing increased to Grade II* by Historic England and the DCMS for this amazing windmill in Margate. Draper's Windmill was constructed in about 1843, by John Holman, millwright of Canterbury. 🧵

We continue to live in a city created by the Victorians and Edwardians. Yet, we've chosen to prioritize only one type of Victorian and Edwardian transport technology, the automobile. Today, I'm talking at the @thevicsoc.bsky.social on why this came to be, and how the cycling city can exist again.

These heritage buildings are being affected by the heritage skills crisis in local government. These two buildings are just the tip of the iceberg - this is just Birmingham alone. It is especially marked where it comes to conservation officers 🧵

Thanks to Architects' Journal for listening to our concerns about a growing pattern of the Secretary of State refusing to add important historic buildings to the National Heritage List for England, even when formally recommended to do so by Historic England. Griff and our Director are quoted.
