Post-war the building returned to schooling south Londoners, as it had done for over a century, and is a key feature of the Minet Conservation Area. Water ingression continues, and this Grade II heritage building more than ever needs urgent restoration.

Maps show that the dwelling on plot 878 was one of the first houses in the area. As one of the earliest dwellings built in this part of Ealing this home has considerable significance. The extract shows the first house to be built in the position of number 6, which has also been known as Clive Lodge.

It was home to Andrew Spiller, a 1950/1960s author and crime writer 🔪 The novelist was very prolific in his time.

🏡 Near Lammas Park, the demolition of an entire locally listed house is being proposed by a developer who is back after his first planning application was refused. This distinctive, unique building was recently a perfectly servicable, attractive let property.

📣 There's a new petition to Stop the Closure of Walsall Leather Museum. The building is the last example there of an early Victorian leatherworks in situ. The leather-working process is showcased, it's a much-loved local attraction. The Council has announced it will close in 2026.

Historian Dr Aileen Reid will be giving an online lecture on E.W. Godwin. Although his fame today rests largely on his Aesthetic Movement furniture and friendships with Oscar Wilde and J.M. Whistler, throughout his life E.W. Godwin styled himself ‘architect.' 🧵

If the plans had been accepted it would have resulted in the destruction of this locally significant 1871 former school building at the heart of the Middle Street Conservation Area.
