The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.

Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.

Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.

But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.

Remember this.

It’s baffling that overtly racist politicians from the #LNP and #OneNation are now crying and yelling over the impacts of the very racism they have encouraged for decades.

Can we all agree now that conservative politics and most of our political media are filled with grubs? Putting the dead bodies of a terrorist attach through a mincer to make political and clickbait sausages. Sorry - your editors, leaders and advisors told you to? That just makes you a coward on top.

How in the everloving fuck do we live in a place where most of our politicians and all our mainstream media orgs point-blank refuse to understand the vast majority of Australians are not in any way anti-Jew but are most definitely anti-Genocide?

From Amy @amyremeikis.bsky.social

The question isn’t “who are we letting into our country?”, it’s “why are we letting grasping politicians spread further hate and division?”.

Some leaders are stomping on our shattered hearts

Our hearts are shattered – and some have broken them further
There is no going back to where we were before December 14. But a social contract Australians relied on has been destroyed by the Coalition.

Can't help noticing Matt Golding's latest cartoon (below) was published on The Age's letters page, but not in its Sydney Morning Herald counterpart.

Given the latter's 'coverage' (for want of a better word) of #bondibeach, I'm not surprised.

There is no place for antisemitism.
Terrorism, such as occurred in Bondi, is abhorrent.
Peaceful protest is fundamental to democracy & not the cause of terrorism.
Banning peaceful protest takes society to a dark(er) place, including passive support for genocide.

The idea that changing a definition to include criticism of Israel as being anti-Semitic and cracking down even further on anti-genocide protests would have in any way made anyone safer is madness. That the Coalition have so comprehensively jumped to blame here is insanity. Who is this speaking to?

You CAN condemn what happened to the Bondi Jewish community and you CAN oppose the genocide and you CAN oppose Oct 7 and you CAN condemn the oppression Gazans faced before that, without it justifying anything that came next.

You can and you must. You have to want it *all* to stop.
