A reminder: TTRPG Actual Play has been compared to reality tv, professional team sports, pro wrestling, audio drama, early television, & more — all for MANY years.

Its roots are many & include a wide variety of other play & performance practices, & the phrase derives from play reporting practices.

Man, ppl filming their process and then ending vids w/ artwork I never could have imagined is THE STUFF. Watched a dude create dyes from leaves near his house for a knitting project . A person who made stop motion animation with slabs of clay cut into pieces where each piece is a single frame. Like!

I must not dunk. Dunking is the riff-killer. Dunking is the easy path that brings discourse. I will face the dunk. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn my mind to seek the riff. Where the dunk has gone there will be nothing. Only the riff will remain
I will not dunk skeet.
I will not dunk skeet.
I will not dunk skeet.
Even when it is exceptionally tempting,
I will not dunk skeet.

I'm lucky that I get to hang out and talk with @hancluster.com about RPG publishing and design. This week, we had the joy of including @jennsutcliffe.bsky.social to talk about technical and instructional writing in game design.
@kristianserrano.immaterialplane.com and I have a podcast called Designing Problems. It covers the challenges of designing RPGs, and developing ideas into sharable product. This week, we talk about the unique problem of melding creative writing with the technical writing.
