Another honorable move by SDNY prosecutors in the face of continued unethical and dishonest actions on the part of Trump’s DOJ - demanding expressions of wrongdoing where there was none. Bondi and Blanche have no shame.

Nick Akerman, an ex-Watergate and SDNY prosecutor, wants to file an amicus brief opposing dismissal of the Eric Adams corruption case—and asking the judge to haul Emil Bove into court and possibly sanction him for "making improper and unethical demands."

Fun fact: in addition to his many years of public service at the state and local levels, years ago Chauncey Parker was an AUSA at the SDNY.
Paging Governor Hochul.

Good move by these public servants.

Strong letter from AUSA Hagan Scotten resigning his position at SDNY. Emil Bove’s former colleagues directly slamming his unethical behavior is really something.

This is outrageous. Bove explicitly wrote that Sassoon and the line AUSAs had done nothing wrong in the Adams case, but now that she resigned in protest he is referring all of them for ethics review. This vengeful bully routine will not end well for Bove during his own inevitable ethics review.
"Mr. Bove, in accepting Ms. Sassoon’s resignation, informed her that the prosecutors who worked on the case were being placed on administrative leave, and would be investigated by the attorney general and the Justice Department’s internal investigative arm." www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/n...

Just to underscore the tension at DOJ at the moment, here's what one federal law enforcement official told me about the acting deputy attorney general:

"I, along with other career FBI and DOJ personnel that I’ve spoken with, really have one message for him and that is, “go fuck yourself, traitor.'"
Trump’s feared DOJ enforcer has a secret: He, too, investigated Jan. 6
The acting DOJ official behind a potential witch hunt against prosecutors and FBI agents who investigated the Capitol riot worked on Jan. 6 cases himself.

Officials who oversee the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section: Kevin O. Driscoll and John Keller.
BREAKING

Danielle R. Sassoon, Manhattan’s acting U.S. attorney, resigned on Thursday rather than obey a Justice Department order that she drop a corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Good for Danielle Sassoon. It’s symbolic - DOJ will find someone to dismiss the case - but she stood up for her people, their work, and the independence of the office. All very worthy points to make in the face of the enormous damage Trump is doing to the rule of law. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/n...

Mangione was charged federally by complaint. He will be assigned a district court judge upon indictment by the grand jury. The district judge will oversee all proceedings from then on, including discovery issues and any motions to suppress etc. Magistrates just do initial presentments and bail.
The way people will confidently gobble up lies when the truth is publicly available, lol. There is no “pre-trial judge” on the federal Mangione case yet, because it’s currently unassigned.

Who will be the next AG pick?? Here are some lawyers Trump likes (excluding disbarred ones and those under indictment - although he *might* go there): Alina Habba, Jonathan Turley, Janine Pirro, Trey Goudy, Alan Dershowitz, Jay Sekulow, Joe DiGenova, Victoria Toensing. Jim Jordan (did he pass bar?)
