Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

An important part of the job for any WH Press Secretary is to clean up remarks made by the president or offer explanation/context or apology when warranted. But Leavitt never does that. She always crafts a response that makes it even worse by adding her own toxic twist.

I've had a missile blow up next to my airplane, been shot at dozens of times by anti-aircraft fire, and launched into orbit — all for my country. I never thought I'd see a President call for my execution.

Trump doesn’t understand the Constitution, and we're all less safe for it.

Today's Trans Day of Remembrance memorials is how I learned about Allyson's passing. We met during the post-Roe protests after some militia freaks were waving their guns at us.

She was an important voice amongst activists and spoke at the March for Trans Justice in Phoenix. Gone too soon, RIP.
[23] Allyson Ketchum died by suicide in Mesa, Arizona (USA) on 22 Oct 2024.

She was 29, and had been one of the first US infantry soldiers to transition, but subsequently left the army to become a student journalist. #SayHerName #TransLivesMatter #TDoR

The Republican health care crisis will force Americans to make difficult choices.

Food or health care? Housing or health care?

No one should have to make these kinds of sacrifices.

I warned that private equity taking over Walgreens would be bad for workers.

This is the private equity playbook: they hollow out businesses, cheat their workers, and drive them into the ground.

Red Lobster, Toys "R" Us, and Joann Fabrics. Who’s next?
Report: Walgreens cuts hourly workers’ pay for 6 major holidays
The hourly employees will only be paid if they work on those holidays.

Attendees at last night’s White House dinner honoring MBS were all doing business with him and Saudi Arabia.

Under Trump, the only normative rule is to gain as much power and money as possible.

Power and wealth are honored, even if the honoree has greenlit a brutal murder.

A House panel is holding a hearing on a proposed ban on Congressional stock trading.

This ban is long overdue. Why should members of Congress be able to use privileged information to make money on the stock market, while they’re supposed to be working for you?

Last night, the House advanced a bill to repeal background checks and safeguards on weapons that can be easily converted into guns.

If passed, this bill would arm domestic abusers and other violent criminals. It’s a direct assault on public safety.

Just a reminder: there was a Biden administration investigation into Epstein and Maxwell's co-conspirators. Trump killed it in January, fired the prosecutors, stole the files, & ordered Bondi to open a new sham investigation, led by a handpicked prosecutor, so DOJ wouldn't have to release the files.
