Seven years ago today, a gunman opened fire at a bar in Thousand Oaks, California—killing 12 people and injuring 16 others. Over 100 people were at the bar, and many of them had survived the Las Vegas shooting the year prior.

Stand your ground laws encourage people to shoot first and ask questions later. It’s a license to kill that makes all of us less safe.

Two years ago today, 18 people were killed in a shooting rampage at a local bowling alley and restaurant in Lewiston, Maine. Thirteen others were injured in the attacks.
