16-year-old Korderrian De’Vante Sims, Jr. was shot and killed Saturday night in Bessemer, Alabama. He was a freshman in high school and just turned 16 last week.

In 2017, only 5 states invested a total of $70 million in community violence intervention (CVI) programs.
In 2025, 22 states invested over $497 million to efforts that prevent violence before it happens, showing remarkable progress in the fight to save lives.
