Good analysis of decision in Canadian mining firm’s arbitration claim against Peru. Further shows how secretive corporate courts - designed by and for the promoters of neocolonial extraction - reinforce more of the same, an affront to Indigenous self-determination. www.ejiltalk.org/lupaka-gold-...

This "no" is not negotiable. A Guatemalan court ordered the government to consult with the Xinka People over the future of Pan American Silver's Escobal mine. This May, the Xinka People said no to the reopening of the mine and called for it to be closed permanently.

Huge march in Cuenca, Ecuador today to protect water and say no yet again to Dundee Precious Metals' Loma Larga mine project that has threatened water, high moorlands known as Kimsacocha and the health of downstream rural and urban people for over twenty years. Hands off Kimsacocha! Cuenca says no!
Today, thousands of Cuencanos are taking to the streets to march for the protection of water against metal mining, showing an overwhelming opposition to Canadian mining in the paramo de Kimsakocha, Ecuador!

This was not in self defense and drug smuggling is not a capital offense. These are extrajudicial killings — mass murder on the high seas illegally ordered by the President of the United States. US service personnel do not get to play judge, jury, and executioner.

Breaking!

City of Burnaby just became first city in Canada to join arms embargo movement against Israel AND the first Apartheid-Free City, breaking ties with Israeli apartheid and settler colonialism.

We've been organizing for months towards this precedent in colonial Canada.
