SSA fraud EO: This section is very concerning. It means he can declare that a state or city isnt adequately preventing fraud & can cut benefits & funding to that state or city to "enforce fraud prevention." Imagine Maine right now. He could easily say they or any blue state arent preventing fraud

Can we stop calling these atrocities "deportations." These people sold to El Salvadorian prisons were not deported. Deportation is a process that did not take place. They were rounded up and removed with no process. They were kidnapped, not deported.

I’m seeing a lot of posts about how certain immigrants sent to El Salvador are not actually criminals and this is true but I would also like to remind you that people with criminal records shouldn’t be subjected to this, either.

I keep remembering how the first thing an abuser does is cut you off from friends and family. This feels like the global political version of that on an unimaginable scale.

Exactly-It costs billions of $ to build new factories & tool them not to mention it takes years to do so. They're not going to do it. Then they'd have to hire a bunch of employees, train them, & pay them much higher wages. No. They'll lay off workers, reduce inventory, & jack up prices instead.
you have to be genuinely stupid as fuck to think american companies are going to respond to tariffs by building factories and moving manufacturing to the US. i don't know how else to say it. you have to be genuinely braindead

This is a sad but interesting question. How many grad students will leave and where, if anywhere will they go ?
Live here and am in grad school here. I have one class where 13 out of the 15 in it are leaving the state or country at end of semester.
That funding loss will really impact the summer where the population is half that so it’s about $2k per person.
