Premier Smith's Chief of Staff, Rob Anderson, would be OUTRAGED teachers were stripped of their freedom of expression... if he wasn't a huge hypocrite.

"How dare we think we can do that? What kind of society do we think we live in?"

“Actors like to talk about reducing the emissions intensity of oil sands production. What they often don’t mention is that intensity reductions coexist with absolute increases in tonnes of GHG emissions.”

So … we’re eating fewer calories per meal, but we keep increasing the number of meals we eat?
You won't find this message in Canada's official #COP30 statement: Canada, with already the worst #GHG emissions record in the G7, intends to increase oil sands production from today's record levels. #climatecrisis

I couldn't deliver this speech to #COP30 with a straight face. "Deep decarbonization" is a snake-oil phrase coming from a country where total GHG emissions have climbed by nearly 15% since 1990. Canada hasn't met a single #climatechange goal in more than 30 years.

Grade 9 social studies: Canada has three branches of government: executive, legislative, and judiciary. Each serves an important part of a healthy democracy.

Shouldn’t the people who run for elected office understand this, and understand the purpose and role/limits of all three?

Does that mean a party cannot expel a MP/MLA from caucus too? Banning floor crossing, or requiring an immediate by-election, gives party leaders even MORE power.

I disagree. We need to recognize that in our system we elect individual representatives, not captives to a party cult. They should be free to decide how to represent their riding, and can be turfed at the next election if we don't like what they do.

As part of a primer for today’s budget, I’m going to rewatch Carney’s interview on @thedailyshow.com to see how much of his “vision” actually appears in the budget.

A government’s values don’t come from what it says, it comes from what it funds.

Not even hiding the blatant entitlement anymore.

The Premier's Office continues to remove all checks and balances on its power.

The courts, the legislature, the Auditor General, independent agencies, the federal government, voters and candidates they don't like...

This is getting ridiculous.

Ooooo!

Danielle Smith just issued a new set of rules for staff accepting gifts!

(Even though there’s questions about the last rules being followed)

And it has…
