I think GDT’s Frankenstein was everything it needed to be- faithful to the source while also adding a few layers that helped move the story along. Everything and everyone is gorgeous. It never ceases to amaze me that Mary Shelley wrote this story over 200 years ago.

a lot of current pop reminds me of and has me revisiting Kacey Musgrave’s 2021 album star-crossed- I think was sort of overlooked when it came out, but still sounds fresh and honestly gets better with time

(this is your sign to listen to star-crossed today) ❤️‍🔥

I keep seeing -slight delays- in air traffic this weekend turned into whole news stories… I don’t know if this accomplishes ANYTHING but ramps up passenger anxieties?

Maybe talk about WHY these things are happening, WHO is causing this, not just the what, before it gets so much worse 🫩

just watched Fantastic Four and it was fun! Kinda formulaic superhero nonsense but the cast is great and the retro futuristic visuals are very cute

Of course I’m ecstatic about the Mamdani win but this morning i’m also angry- a lot of Dem establishment almost fucked this up, even when he was the rightful nominee! any who stood in his way should be very concerned about their own futures. Primary them all 🥰

for 17 years (half of my 20s, all of my 30s & into my 40s) I called NYC home, so I’m very proud of my fellow New Yorkers tonight (well, about 50% of them anyway)

it’s impossible to choose so I’ll go with the ones I’ve watched/read/listened to more than anything else-

Introduce yourself with:

One Book
One Movie
One TV Show
One Album

Dancer From The Dance
Rocky Horror
Ab Fab
Little Earthquakes - Tori Amos

I’ve been up since 3:30am (had to work at 5) so when the sun just started rising at 6:30 my brain was literally like “oh! I forgot it would do that!”

2nd ep of Welcome to Derry also had me SCREAMING. This show is wild, & Taylour Paige is incredible. It’s so dense, with so many genuinely interesting storylines, at one point I yelled at the tv “who the fuck are THESE GUYS?!”

It’s SO Stephen King, so weird, so creepy, I love it.
first episode of Welcome to Derry has me all kinds of fucked up! it’s everything I wanted, with huge unexpected moments, and still managed to gag the fuck out of me

I can’t articulate how important Rocky Horror is to me 💋

My aunts went to it in the 80s, they had the LP & we used to do the Time Warp when I was 7

I bought the *15th anniversary* CD box set in 1990- I was 12

I dressed up as Frank when I was 13 (cape-pearls-makeup, no reveal lol)
I’m in @metroweekly.bsky.social this week with a piece about the profound personal and political importance of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, audience partici…pation, and fifty years of absolute pleasure and queer liberation. 🫦

I wish there was a suspenseful movie starring Nicole Kidman frantically running around a mansion in 1945 with a shotgun and keys

finally watched Weapons and it was maybe better than I expected, even with the hype! 10/10 SO FUN

spoilery thoughts below:

I thought it would be a metaphor for school shootings, and it starts out like that, but to me Aunt Gladys is basically America

I used sick days this week because I was recovering from a sinus/chest cold & (shocker!) I feel so much better for having rested & taken time off work.

I hate that capitalism has rotted my brain to feel bad about calling in sick… call in sick! life is too short to work when you’re not feeling good!

happy monday I guess!

watched Midsommar tonight for the first time- maybe it had been too hyped up but even though I did like it, it was a bit clunky, & once I realized it’s basically a Cabin In The Woods trope (with a cult) I started to get a bit bored. Florence Pugh was amazing though! B-

if the Weezer music video for Buddy Holly (1994) came out today, instead of Happy Days- which aired 10-20 years before (1974-1984), they would be in The Office (2005-2013) 🙃

One of my nicknames when I was in my late teens/early 20’s was “Diane Keaton” bc I was the “Diane Keaton” of my friend group, which is why even though we’re so annoying, I love gay people

anyway, thank you Diane Keaton, for teaching me to be the most Diane Keaton I can be 💕
