My wife is an ER doctor here in Quebec, Canada. I’m a science/health writer. Honestly, the U.S.'s scientific decline—once the world’s immune system in cancer research, disease monitoring, and more—is for us one of the most terrifying aspects of this presidency. Far worse than his reckless trade war.

“All the pride that Canadians have felt in the country’s greatest sporting export is being questioned. North of the border, that sentence was once unfathomable. But Gretzky’s allegiance to U.S. President Donald Trump … has left many Canadians feeling deeply betrayed.”
Why Canadians are stung by Wayne Gretzky’s silence
Canada's greatest hockey player and a source of national pride has faced criticism from his home country.

Got back from the grocery store in Quebec, Canada—American products fully stocked, untouched, as prices climb.

This trade war is already hurting on both sides.

A self-inflicted wound for two economies that should be working together, not against each other.
There’s a saying that holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

Tariffs are the economic equivalent of that.

A country that enacts a tariff is drinking economic poison and expecting the other countries to die.

Chasing perfection leads to frustration. Science shows that small, consistent progress wins in the long run—more sustainable, more enjoyable, and way less stressful. Aim for better, not perfect.

A randomized trial in one New Zealand's most obesity-affected regions: Participants were split into two groups: one receiving standard care, the other guided toward a whole food, plant-based, low-fat diet. 🧵(1/6)

In the same vein... Got back from the grocery here in Quebec, Canada. The U.S. produce section was fully stocked—yet barely touched. It’s clear: Canadians are already voting with their wallets, boycotting U.S. food regardless of whether Trump walks back his tariffs or not. What an unnecessary mess.
