Utterly horrendous story of life in Spain under Franco combined with religious oppression.

Marina's mother was held against her will in a convent in 1960s Spain under Franco's regime.

I see that the resident NYT oxygen thief Ross fucking Douthat has been opining on feminism again. What a complete prick that man is.

Saw Deliver Me From Nowhere this evening. Not usually a music biopic fan but thought this was good. Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong were excellent

Of course the venal Farage is cosying up to the religious whackjobs in the US. The sooner they crack down on political contributions from abroad the better.

Two friends in two days have announced that they are retiring. Man alive - it's getting harder and harder not to think of it myself, but I don't think I'm quite there yet. Mind you, one bad day at work could easily push me over the edge.

I get annoyed by the AI bollocks that is returned when I do a simple Google search. Have learnt that throwing a random swear word into the search bar stops this nonsense dead in its tracks. #toptip

Some much needed laughs at Dara O'Briain's show. I didn't have the grooming of an innocent Canadian family on my bingo card 😂

@natschatpodcast.bsky.social As a Nats fan from the UK, I just wanted to say thankyou for your excellent coverage over the last season. You accompanied me on my morning walks after every game - including this morning. Hopefully next season will be better. As Yazz said "The Only Way Is Up" #GoNats

Have spent all day listening to a 'drip' in the kitchen that I couldn't find. Concerted effort of over an hour established that it wasn't a leak, but a low battery warning on my old Carbon Monoxide detector. Feeling like a right dope! I'd bought a new one but forgot to remove the old one.

Sorry to hear that Robert Redford has died. Loved his performances in Three Days of The Condor and Brubaker as well as the more popular stuff like All The President's Men / Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid. Spent many hours watching his movies over the years. RIP

I've succumbed and put on a pair of jeans. First time I haven't been wearing shorts since April. Winter is coming.

It's August. Far too early for the C word to be invoked.
And disturbing how much of the display is already gone.

Watched The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix. Enjoyed it though Ron wearing a t-shirt I also own (all hail Bruce Springsteen) made me feel old!

Finally had to acknowledge that my car is utterly filthy. Have dropped it off to allow a phalanx of energetic youngsters to descend upon it. Inside and out for £23. Rather them than me

Feeling a bit out of touch. When was it that we moved from the Richter Scale to the Moment Magnitude scale as a measure of earthquakes? Was listening to a news report and thought "wait what".

Back from a wonderful weekend in Scotland celebrating my niece's wedding. Her new husband is a sweetheart.
They had a ceilidh and the reaction of the non Scots present was hilarious. Evening ended with the classics Auld Lang Syne and Loch Lomond. Makes me miss home more than usual.
